  1. Warriors Long Shadows by Erin Hunter
"The vision of Heathertail's broken body hovered into Lionblaze's mind, clearer than the clearing in front of him. 'Is that what I'm becoming? A cat who murders and slaughters? A cat like Tigerstar?'

    Response:
Heathertail tried to kill you and wipe out your whole clan with the combination of Windclan and Riverclan. It would be completely justifiable to kill her. You loved her and she stabbed you in the back. She needs to be taught a lesson and you're exactly the right one to do it Lionblaze. Except this shows that Lionblaze, though he's the best warrior in the clan (due to his powers) is not as arrogant and heartless like his grand father. And shows that even though he was betrayed horrendously by someone he loved, he still cares enough not to want to be the one that kills her out of revenge.

    1. Your response is very touching :') It is true though. The love we sometimes can feel for someone can be bigger than what we expect. I don't think revenge is the solution. He should let time take care of the damage she caused him.

  2. Look for me by moonlight by Mary Downing Hahn
Quote- ¨she rose to leave but dad stopped her. ¨Look, Susie. We´ve made a sentence.¨ Pointing at the words zigzagging across the board, he read aloud, ¨Ill come to thee by moonlight.¨... ¨It sounds like a curse¨ Susie said...¨It should be I´ll not ill¨... I stole a glance at Vincent, and he nodded approvingly... ¨ill¨ or ¨Iĺl¨- a curse or a promise?¨ pg 81-82

Response- I have the same question question just like that of the narrator, is the statement ¨ill/I´ll come t thee by moonlight¨ a promise or is it a curse. To answer the question for myself i will say that it is both, since the narrator, Cynda, has already fallen in love with Vincent, the mysterious guy, i could be possible that he is promising to come visit he at night. And it is also a curse because Cynda, the narrator, knows nothing about this man whom she thinks she has falling in love with, he could be a bad guy for Christ sake, and he could be telling her that him being here and coming to visit her by moonlight could be a curse onto here and her family. So basically the answer is all of the above.

  3. " 'He'd better.' Hollyleaf clawed fiercely at the ground. Even the thought of Sol made her pelt bristle,' He has no place here if he tries to destroy the warrior code."

    Response:
Hollyleaf is probably the worst character. She's so devoted to the warrior code (that she doesn't even fully understand and must be broken sometimes to save lives) that it just makes you want to chunk a brick at her. She's paranoid and thinks that she will not be a true warrior without her precious code, when in reality her leader, mother, father, aunt, brothers and pretty much everyone else, has laid aside the code to help the clan, but she'd much rather watch others die. She's so obsessed it that she murders a cat and then tries to kill her own mother because she found out she was half-clan. She's to good for this book and I"m glad when the tunnel collapses and she disappears for a good two books to find herself. She comes back much more level headed.

"For a moment, neither of us said anything. The only sound was our spoons clinking. I really wanted to get up and shut the open cabinets, but for some reason I felt like it would be admitting something. I stayed where I was." PG 215.

Reply: I can relate to how the character feels because there are times when your parents or your friends are talking to you about something that you don't really want to discuss or answer. You can't really get out of it either because your possible gestures or body gesture can answer their question in a negative way. It's usually hard to get out of situation like that especially in this case because she is talking to her mom.

  5. Slash, by Slash and Anthony Bozza

The moment he came onstage, I was captivated. His entire concert was the entire essence of performance. I saw the familiar elements of a man I'd gotten to know now exaggerated to the extreme. He had reduced rock stardom to its roots: being a rock star is the intersection of who you are and who you want to be.

I think this moment in Slash's life is when he really connected with music, that though he had animosity towards David Bowie, who was dating his mother at the time. He realized what music was all about, and, subconsciously, became rooted into it and realized that it was what really spoke to him. It opened the door to what would become his passion, and the thing his entire world would revolve upon.

“Sometimes you cry, Susie, even when someone you love has been gone a long time.”

Response: At this point, Susie finds her grandfather. After all she feels much better because now she has his company.
I thought this quote is very beautiful and true. I can relate to it because my father passed away years ago. It feels like it was yesterday the day he left. What I think the meaning of this quote is that sometimes it's okay to cry, even when the person you're missing has been gone for a long time.
Susie feels like her family is now in pain because of her, which makes me upset and think about how cruel some people can be.

  12. Passages from the text: "The beautiful thing is, music can be like a time machine. One song-- the lyrics, the melody, the mood-- can take you back to a moment in time like nothing else can. Music is so personal. I fall asleep with the music playing. It comforts me. Like he's lying right there next to me, his breath, the sweetest music of all, whispering in my ear."

    Pages:90-92

Comments & Questions: (C) Music can recover the pain in life, just like Brooklyn used music to escape the sadness of her boyfriend's death. When I am upset, I listen to music, and I would feel much better than before. Music really can change life. When people listen to the music, people would enjoy at that moment. I agree that music can be like a time machine. When I listen to some songs, I recall back to a moment in time. The songs I like that always have some touchable memories to connect to my life.

“It wasn't about being happy or unhappy. I just didn't want to be me anymore.”

This is when the protagonist is talking about how after all the times she moves she doesn't want to be her anymore. She can make up a whole new name and become a different person because she knows at the end of the day that the place she is at will never be home. I can understand that. pg4: "Ir was the kind of moment most people would want to last forever, but I couldn't wait for it to be over so I could get on with my real life, the one I'd been staring out the window and day dreaming about all through high school."

The character is singing on her graduation day, and its weird to think that even on her graduation day she isn't looking that forward to it. That she just wants to hurry up and get out of it. I can relate that me and pretty much everyone cannot wait to get out of high school and move on with our real lives, but unlike the character in the book, I will actually and am looking very forward to graduation day.

  16. Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes by: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
    Pg. 99

"The impression of his right foot was always less distinct than his left. He put less weight upon it. Why? Because he limped- he was lame."
"And the cigar-holder? I could see that the end had not been in his mouth? Therefore he used a holder. The tip had been cut off, but the cut was not a clean one, so I deduced a blunt pen knife."

My reaction to this is the observations Sherlock Holmes makes. Although he's fairly not aged old, it seems he's been around in the world traveling everywhere for a very long time. The distinctions between a normal human and Sherlock Holmes is like comparing Kobe Bryant to a beginner basketball, you just don't do that. Why would you? And why would you even be put in the same sentence? It's just as the Lebron James and Michael Jordan comparisons are made, they play well, but Lebron will never catch up to Michael anytime soon. Holmes habits of assuming anything merely shows he is 99% sure he is right, or pretty darn close.

This passage describes an earlier event in the story where Rigg did the same thing the demon was doing in the shrine story. Response: In this part of the story, the girl got the kidnapper to let her take a look around the place that he has her at. As the author describes, it seems to be in a pretty big territory but also away from anyone and everything. In this quote the girl is trying to escape, to find a way out, but she just can't. (E) The character in this book may have very low self esteem. He is also very pessimistic for thinking so lowly of himself. I wonder if he has had a rough past which is the cause to all this negative thinking. Maybe it is his life at the moment that he isn't satisfied with that makes him act the way he is.

(CL) In my first blog I wrote the quote "He realized that he had no recollection of going to bed last night. He struggled to remember, small, tight lines creasing his forehead as he tried to piece together what could have happened to cause him to wake up feeling like this. But there was nothing." Now I can clarify that the reason he had no recollection of what happened that night was because he was in a werewolf phase, so when he woke up he couldn't remember anything. Also the reason Lucien wanted trey because Lucien wants his help with finishing what his dad started. Now that I know Lucien is a vampire and Trey is a werewolf my next question would be what is going to come of this later in the book.
