  1. "A detachment of soldiers had burned down the house. Rough bisonbeck men carried off all the farmer's crops. Ropmas, another of the Pretender's low races, had driven off the farmer's livestock to feed Wizard Risto's peole."
    page 110
(Q)Why was it that armies of bisonbeck men were attacking the farmer and his family? Who is the Wizard Risto, and why does he have his armies attacking people to gain food?

    1. he could be using the food to feed his people since he is a wizard you have to have followers and you must watch your followers and take care of them, has this crossed your mind?

  2. Somebody Everybody Listens to" by suzanne supplee

page 11, "Well, your mother could always get a job," Brenda said, and pressed her lips together."
Brenda is talking to the character (Retta), and it seems like that the Retta does everything in the house, and almost has all the responsibilities. But then again how Brenda says that her mom should get a job, seems like Retta is very defensive when it comes to her mom. I wonder why her mom cant get a job, and why everything falls onto Retta.

  3. Passages from the text: "At least we're making progress. Going somewhere instead of standing still. Motion is always preferable to stagnation. When you move, things happen. You're alive. Stay still too long, and it's hard to get moving again. Gotta keep things moving."

Comments & Questions: (P) Nico got messages from Lucca's ghost that Brooklyn needed help. The truth was Brooklyn really needs help to get over the pain of her boyfriend's death. She couldn't even sleep, but she didn't feel good to tell anybody. Nico got same problem, but he found a way to escape the pain of losing his brother-- running. The life is still going no matter how painful you feel, so, Nico wanted to use running to help Brooklyn and himself. I predict that after they hang out together, they will be closer and more trust each other. At end they will get over the pain around them.

  4. quote- "Making no effort to deaden the pain with a kiss, he sank his teeth into my throat. Pain arced between us like electricity leaping from pole to pole. Unable to bear the pain, I closed my eye and prayed to die fast,"don't worry", Vincent said. "You won't die." There was no kindness in his voice, no love, no gratitude. Just a cool satisfaction.

Reaction- This was not what I expected. In the beginning the author portrayed Vincent to seem like a really nice person, even though, he is anything like that. The narrator herself was also oblivious to his character. Nobody is who they seem to be anymore, some lie and deceive other people. I just hope that Cynda finds a way to get rid of Vincent.

    1. doesn't this remind you of Damon on vampire diaries when he is introduced as a bad vampire and through out the story/show he changes and becomes one of the nicest most caring vampires on the show.

  5. "Pathfinder" by Orson Scott Card
    Pg:118
"We came from a village out in the western desert. Our people name our babies before the next sundown, and they pick the name because of what we do or look like or remind somebody of, or from a dream or joke or any damn thing. And we have to keep that name...

It seems that names may be important in the story, but not in the context of the story.

  8. "Skinny"
    Donna Cooner

    Passage From The Text
"That night, I sit in the middle of the bed with all my new purchases spread out around me, surprised by the strange feelings of excitement at the thought of new starts and a new year. For the first time, I really think about going back to school."

    Pg.137

    Comments and Questions
    (C) I understand her perfectly. Every school year comes with excitement and new clothes, shoes etc. I love that feeling! I can relate to her because I have been going through this every single year, ever since Pre-k. I am glad with the weight loss she has had she can finally get this feeling after so many years of not wanting to go back to school.

"He bent forward in his chair, and i thought for a terrible moment that he was going to be sick,..."
    (Q) Why is Raphael so afraid of the interviewer? He was acting all high and mighty at first and now he is terrified.
    (E) I think the author is trying to tell the reader that the interviewer may act like he has a lot of power but in reality he is just 1 "sick" person.
